Vancouver's
Darren Woodhead is a West Coast institution. He's the infamous host
of the now legendary Sauna Sessions podcast, broadcasting live from a
mobile sauna party somewhere in East Van, and also hosted the hugely
popular Signal Saturdays at the now defunkt Lotus Lounge. He was a
mainstay at the Renegade stage at another fabled West Coast festival,
Soundwave.
Woodhead
has played every big festival in Western Canada to much aplomb.
Famous for marathon sets at hours no one in their right mind wants to
play, Woodhead thrives playing for people who want to keep the vibe
alive. Whether the crowd is in the thousands or single digits he
makes sure everyone is dancing.
The
DJ's DJ, is true journeyman who has clocked more rave hours than
anyone in the scene, Woodhead's sets get better every year and are
guaranteed to bring the vibe he is famous for. http://soundcloud.com/woodhead
A
DJ going on 13 years, Max Ulis was first inspired by the sounds of
house, trip hop, and early drum and bass. With the formation of
Vancouver's Lighta! Sound and the success of New Form's Dubforms
parties headed by Malcolm Levy and Michael Red, Max gained ground as
one of North America's first dubstep DJs. Over the past two years Max
has moved away from dubstep, coming full circle with his music to
reintroduce elements of his first loves, house and techno.
To
quote Resident Advisor's Andrew Ryce, "Max Ulis' increasingly
diverse output could hardly be described with any one term, but it's
all united by an extremely spare and dry aesthetic. Stripped back,
pitch black, and stark, he strikes an enviable balance meshing the
dark with the dance floor."

TAAL MALA
Often
described as un-categorizable, Taal Mala's music is inspired by new
ideas and classic standards, taking influences from a diverse
selection of both new and classic sounds. Genre-defying acts of synth
genius and production lustre form a solid foundation for Taal Mala's
destruction of any soundboy who comes to test it. Dubstep,
Grime, Jungle, Acid, Hardcore and Reggae are all partially
responsible for the fusion that is created. As a member of the
Lighta! and Dark Magnet soundsystems, Taal Mala has buried an excess
of tin pan soundboys alongside The Bug, Kode9, Loefah, Venetian
Snares, Rusko, Benga, Mala, Skream, Hatcha, Untold, Youngsta, Martyn,
2562…etc. Taal Mala's first vinyl 12"", 'Criminal
Youths/Mud Up' was released on Badman Press Recordings Oct, 2010.
Other releases include the 'Dreader Than Dread EP' also on
BadmanPress Recordings, 'Stakker Humanoid - [Sub-Osc Remix]' on
Jumpin' & Pumpin', Ill Gates & Meesha - Sweatshop [taal mala
remix] on Muti Music as well as releases with Aufest & Ten Pin
Records. His forthcoming EP on Modern Math label is highly
anticipated. http://soundcloud.com/taal-mala
J.F. KILLAH
J.F.’s talents shine through her technicality as her tight mixes and double drops showcase her true finesse and style. She utilizes her innate understanding of key, emotion, and the power of sound to provide her audience with musically dynamic performances time after time. Though D&B is her true love and passion, as an open-minded artist, she takes opportunities to explore through all genres. http://soundcloud.com/jfkillah
WILLISIST
Willisist was born to do this. The son of a disco dj and a folk music fanatic, his passion for music developed from two very different places. High school was all hip hop as the turntables came out of the basement. While others were obsessed with “keeping it real”, he kept it open -- and dance floor friendly, hitting up a few raves and feeling the lasers. FFWD ten years to audio school in Vancouver, and another five years partying in the house scene.... then WHAM – IT’S DRUM AND BASS! Quick as a snare rush, he assembled the SHAHdjs, and embraces the full Bass Culture Community. http://soundcloud.com/willisist-shahdjs
BLENDA
A relative newcomer, B(l)renda Holmes loves all that is deep, smooth and pretty. Resident DJ of Sweet Sip Thursdays at the Keefer Bar.
